Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, Secretary-General of Global Interfaith WASH Alliance and President of Divine Shakti Foundation, based at Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh was an esteemed speaker at the renowned Parliament of the World’s Religions which just concluded today in Chicago, Illinois, USA. In the same city as the original Parliament of 1893 at which Swami Vivekanandaji gave his historic addresses, the Parliament again took place this year. With more than 6500 people in attendance from nearly 100 countries, the theme of the Parliament was A Call to Conscience: Defending Freedom and Human Rights.
Sadhviji spoke in seven sessions on a wide variety of themes including: Faith for the Earth and Faith for Water, both of which looked at the role of faith leaders and faith communities in protecting and preserving our Mother Earth and our planet’s water. She also participated in two panels focused on women leaders, “Women of Faith as Peacebuilders” and “Women Faith Leaders as Critical Catalysts for a Peaceful and Sustainable World.”
Both of these panels focused on the importance of women faith leaders in bringing about peace and sustainability. She also spoke in a powerful session highlighted by the Parliament of Religions on Climate Repentance in which leaders of different religions from different regions shared prayers, teachings, mantras, and climate principles.
Sadhviji concluded her inspiring address with a pledge in which she led all of the leaders on the Parliament’s main stage and all the audience to raise their hands together in a Sankalp, a vow, that they would not only pray to abate climate change and protect our environment but that they would actually WORK and ACT to protect and preserve Mother Earth.

ग्लोबल इंटरफेथ वॉश एलायंस की अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय महासचिव और परमार्थ निकेतन, ऋषिकेश में स्थित डिवाइन शक्ति फाउंडेशन की अध्यक्ष, साध्वी भगवती सरस्वती जी ने विश्व विख्यात धर्म संसद में एक विशिष्ट वक्ता के रूप में सहभाग कर विश्व के 100 से अधिक देशों से आये प्रतिभागियों को सम्बोधित किया।
शिकागो, इलिनोइस, अमेरिका में आयोजित धर्म संसद में साध्वी भगवती सरस्वती जी ने 7 सत्रों को सम्बोधित किया। धर्म संसद अमेरिका में उसी शहर में आयोजित की गयी है, जहां 1893 की मूल संसद हुई थी, जिसमें स्वामी विवेकानन्द जी ने भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व कर अपना ऐतिहासिक भाषण दिया था, इस वर्ष फिर से वही पर धर्म संसद का आयोजन किया गया जिसमें विश्व के लगभग 100 देशों से 6500 से अधिक प्रतिभागियों ने सहभाग कर ‘स्वतंत्रता और मानवाधिकारों की रक्षा हेतु आह्वान’ विषय पर अपना उद्बोधन दिया।
धर्म संसद मंे साध्वी जी ने विभिन्न विषयों पर भारतीय चिंतन और दर्शन पर आधारित वक्तव्य दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि जल व पर्यावरण संरक्षण के लिये आस्था आधारित संगठन (धार्मिक संगठन) मिलकर अद्भुत कार्य कर सकते हैं। हमारी धरती माता, हमारे ग्रह और जल स्रोतों के संरक्षण में धर्मगुरूओं और आस्था आधारित संगठनों की भूमिका महत्वपूर्ण हो सकती है।
साध्वी भगवती सरस्वती जी ने महिला धर्मगुरूओं पर केंद्रित दो पैनलों में भी सहभाग किया। ‘शांति निर्माता के रूप में आस्था आधारित संगठनों की नारी शक्तियों का महत्वपूर्ण योगदान है। ‘शांतिपूर्ण व टिकाऊ दुनिया के निर्माण के लिए महिला धर्मगुरूओं की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका पर चितंन किया गया। इन दोनों पैनलों में शांति और स्थिरता लाने में महिला धर्मगुरूओं के महत्व पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया।
साध्वी भगवती सरस्वती जी ने जलवायु परिवर्तन पर धर्म संसद द्वारा आयोजित किए गए एक शक्तिशाली सत्र में भी सहभाग कर उद्बोधन दिया, जिसमें विभिन्न क्षेत्रों के विभिन्न धर्मों के धर्मगुरूओं ने प्रार्थनाएं, शिक्षाएं, संदेश, मंत्र और जलवायु परिवर्तन को रोकने के लिये सतत व सुरक्षित सिद्धांत साझा किए।
साध्वी भगवती सरस्वती जी ने कहा कि मनुष्य के रूप में जन्म लेने वाले प्रत्येक प्राणी की एक गरिमा होती है, यह अपने आप में बहुमूल्य है, और मनुष्य होने के नाते उसे गरिमामय जीवन जीने का पूरा अधिकार है, इसलिए जन्म लेते ही प्रकृति उसे वे सब अधिकार प्रदान करती है जो एक मानव जाति के अस्तित्व के लिये जरूरी हैं। प्रकृति द्वारा दिये गये अधिकारों का उपभोग करने के साथ ही प्रकृति के प्रति अपने जो भी कर्तव्य है उसका भी निर्वहन करना सभी का परम धर्म है, यही संदेश भारतीय संस्कृति हमें देती है।
साध्वी जी ने अपने प्रेरणादायक उद्बोधन को एक संकल्प के साथ विराम दिया जिसमें उन्होंने संसद के मुख्य मंच पर विराजित सभी नेताओं, धर्मगुरूओं, प्रतिभागियों और सभी दर्शकों को एक संकल्प कराया। सभी ने अपने हाथ उठाकर ग्लोबल वार्मिग व क्लाइमेंट चेंज को रोकने के लिये सतत व सुरक्षित प्रयासों को बढ़ावा देने का संकल्प लिया।
साध्वी जी ने कहा कि यह संकल्प न केवल जलवायु परिवर्तन को रोकने और हमारी सुरक्षा करने के लिए एक प्रार्थना है बल्कि पर्यावरण संरक्षण व वास्तव में धरती माता की रक्षा और संरक्षण के लिए मिलकर कार्य करने हेतु एक प्रतिबद्धता भी है।
