On The Banks of River Ganga
TOILET >> HAND-WASHING >> DRINKING WATER
The Global Interfaith WASH Alliance is pleased to be implementing the acclaimed Swarovski WaterSchool program in the Ganga-Himalayas.
By coming together for WaterSchool, a new generation is being motivated and enabled to become caring stewards of the world around them through the benefits of improved WASH. Every day, when regular classes are in session, one can find our dedicated team of educators traveling to schools across the region to provide fun, inspiring, and hands-on WaterSchool classes. The classes integrate water science demonstrations, practical activities, and lectures.
To conduct these classes, our team travels from school to school with portable demonstration kits, water testing kits, handouts, and activity materials. Additionally, teacher workshops and special events help promote a cleaner, greener, healthier world by enabling teachers, students, and community members to lead the change they wish to see.
Furthermore, our WaterSchool program is providing schools with the necessary toilet, handwashing, and drinking water facilities to ensure the health of all children. We are also facilitating the planting of fruit trees and school gardens that teach the principles of conservation and will eventually contribute to improving the diets of growing children.
Our WaterSchool classes are conducted within the students' own classrooms. Our team travels from school to school with portable demonstration and water testing kits, along with handouts and activity materials. This allows us to instruct on any unit of the syllabus, providing practical experiments, interactive activities, and hands-on workshops for school students on various aspects of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene.
This program understands the different realities, capacities and needs of every child. Children and young people have the power to make, and have repeatedly made, a difference in their local communities and in the world. These classes develop children’s understanding of water related issues and their interdependence with the world around them, thereby expanding environmental consciousness.
The Water School program recognizes that many schools lack basic facilities that are crucial for providing children with the best opportunities to thrive in their education. In response to this, we are actively involved in building toilets, drinking water, and hand-washing facilities in schools. By doing so, we aim to create a healthy and conducive environment for the next generation of students. These facilities not only promote good hygiene practices but also contribute to the overall well-being and educational outcomes of the students.
As part of the program, we also support the planting of fruit trees and the establishment of school gardens in collaboration with the students. This initiative allows students to take ownership and actively participate in nurturing the plants. By engaging in this simple yet impactful process, students learn valuable principles of conservation, environmental stewardship, and sustainable food production. Moreover, as the trees and gardens grow, they will eventually contribute to improving the diets of growing children, providing them with access to nutritious food right within their school premises. This holistic approach promotes both environmental awareness and better nutrition for the students.
Every day when regular classes are in session, one can find our dedicated team of educators traveling to schools across the region in order to provide fun, inspiring and hands-on WaterSchool classes.
Through our engaging and interactive programs, we bring together a new generation of students who are motivated and empowered to become caring stewards of the world around them. Students not only learn about the importance of WASH but also experience the benefits firsthand. They develop a deeper understanding of how improved WASH practices can enhance their own well-being and that of their communities. By actively participating in our programs, they become advocates for change, spreading the message and inspiring others to adopt better WASH practices.
In addition, teacher workshops and special events help promote a cleaner, greener, healthier world by enabling teachers, students and community members to lead the change they wish to see.
