Sadhviji traveled to the sacred spiritual city of Fez, Morocco to deliver a speech in the plenary session of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Global Forum. High level government representatives, civil society leaders and faith leaders from around the world gathered to work to find active and sustainable pathways to peace and towards an Alliance of Peace: Living Together as One Humanity.
Sadhviji joined United Nations’ Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for UNAOC, Miguel Moratinos; Former UN Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide, Adama Dieng; General Secretary of the Rabita Mohammadia of the Ulemas of the Kingdom of Morocco, Dr. Ahmed Abbadi; Secretary-General of Human Fraternity, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam; and so many other inspiring and motivating leaders and stakeholders from around the world to help shape the future of sustainability and community for the world and its future generations.
“As leaders of Faith,” Sadhviji shared in her powerful speech, “we have a great power for good. After all, religion at its core is meant to connect us. Sadly, the energy of connection has become an energy of disconnection, divisiveness and polarization. Polarization increases during times of stress or threat. Fear causes us to contract, and the lines between Us and Them get thicker and thicker. A major source of fear and stress and, therefore, a major source of contraction into Us vs Them is scarcity of resources: water, food, land. In order for us truly to live as One Humanity, we must expand our definition of peace to include not only refraining from killing each other, but also to ensuring that all of our sisters and brothers have access to clean water, clean air, clean food, sanitation, hygiene and so much more….”
