As part of the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance’s Swachh Kumbha Mela initiative, under Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji’s divine leadership and vision, over 2000 toilets established in the Nashik, Trimbakeshwar Area by 3S India, led by Shri Rajeev Kherji and his youthful and dynamic team who, like GIWA, are passionately dedicated to helping improve access to sanitation for all, provided for the sanitation needs for millions of pilgrims visiting during the Kumbha Mela and also helped transform them into spaces of information and inspiration.
With the Emami Foundation’s CSR support for the Swachh Bharat Initiative, huge signage and hoarding were placed all along the premises of these toilet complexes that engaged and inspired pilgrims to make the “Swachh Kumbh. Swachh Bharat.” pledge their own. With messages inviting pilgrims to Clean India, evoking words from Mahatma Gandhiji, the nation’s founding father, on the importance of cleaniness, to innovative messages with a spiritual-sanitation theme, displaying quotes like ‘Swachhta Moksha Hai Gandagi Se’ (Cleanliness is Liberation from Pollution).
Here are some beautiful pictures of these awareness messages that were placed at various visible and high impact locations in the Nashik Kumbha Mela throughout the duration of the Nasik Kumbha Mela. Many positive comments and feedback came from all pilgrims, users of the toilets as well as from the Nasik Municipal Corporation. These messages will be displayed again in the upcoming Kumbha Mela in Haridwar and we hope will inspire you to add your own colour, your own touch and your own pledge to make the Clean India Mission your very own.
