The Global Interfaith WASH Alliance will be working with the state of Uttarakhand, India to help inspire the bringing about of clean water filtration systems for every school in the state, amounting to some four million children. The system, called Bio-Sand Filtration, is made from all-natural materials through a process developed by GIWA/Project Hope partners, the South Asia Fresh Water Initiative, Friendly Water for the World and others. Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji said, “the time has come that we collectively shift our focus from temples to toilets, taps and trees. The need of the hour and the true worship is to work to provide adequate facilities for sanitation, clean water, and raise awareness about health and hygiene so that we ensure healthier and happier lives for all.”
Of this work, the Hon’ble Health Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Surender Singh Negi said, “I truly believe that clean and safe drinking water is the very cornerstone and foundation of health.
