GIWAs Swachhata Kranti
The World’s First Faith-Inspired Social Movement For Water, Sanitation and Hygiene:
The Swachhata Kranti (Clean Revolution)

IMAGINE
If all the toilets were taken away
from the people of the United States, Russia, England and Australia combined. The resulting mess and rise of disease would be staggering. Amazingly, this is less than the number of people who are not using toilets in India.
The facts are shocking
India leads the world in number of people who do not have access to clean drinking water
Within 10 years, 600 million people in India may have no
drinking water.
Some 80% of India’s waters are contaminated by human waste.
India also leads the world in the number of children who die
under the age of 5 every year.
This can be changed by the hands of us all. But time is running
out….
Our compelling faith-based Swachhata Kranti (Clean Revolution) campaign has been designed to create lasting change through the power of shramdam (the hands of people coming together)
Change that is visible
GIWA brings action to the ground
The Global Interfaith WASH Alliance feels that it is through the power of the people of all faiths coming together for a common cause that great change can be made… especially to ensure healthy, sustainable Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for all.
Our compelling faith-based Swachhta Kranti (Clean Revolution) campaign has been designed to do just that.
Through the inspirational words of beloved faith leaders, populations that had never dreamed of leading the way for a clean, green and sustainable world are being motivated to do just that… …And as they do so, they join us in expanding the Swachhta Kranti campaign amongst their friends, neighbours and others through their own endeavours and by participating in our grand processions, mass pledges, water and sanitation rallies and more.
As a result, countless thousands of people have already participated in this burgeoning movement to help ensure that everyone, everywhere has access to clean, healthy and sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene… building toilets, planting trees, ensuring trash-free streets and waterways and spreading crucial messages on the importance of cleanliness.
