Irrigation Minister and Governor Inaugurate Biotoilets at GIWA’s Secretariat

HE Shri B.L. Joshi, Governor of Uttar Pradesh, India (population 200 million) and Respected Shri Shivpal Yadavji, Hon’ble Minister of Irrigation and Revenue of Uttar Pradesh, inaugurated new GIWA portable biotoilets, remarking on the technology’s remarkable potential for improving public health and irrigating all the farms and fields of India.

The toilets were designed by India’s Department of Defense Research and Development Organisation for soldiers living in some of the world’s most difficult and inaccessible places. Now being made available for all, the toilets through a natural process, convert all human waste into biogas, which can be used to fuel homes, communities and cars. They also produce clear, pathogen-free water, which can be used as an excellent fertilizer. No other waste remains.
